Reviews of Fence Connection

I was looking for someone good to fix my garden gate, which had been badly fitted in the first place and had already had one sloppy repair on it. Someone local to me had also let me down after saying that they could do a better second repair on it. Because of this I was looking for someone who was both good and reliable in their dealings with people.

Neil's details on Safe Local Trades say that he is familiar with a whole range of fencing tasks; the reviews from his customers also looked impressive and I hoped that he'd be someone I could also ask for advice on what would be the best thing to do to fix my gate properly.

From our first conversation he was confident that he could do a great job and, after sending a few quick pictures to him, he arranged to come and take a look in person. I was quite appreciative of this as the journey wasn't a short one for him.

After taking a look at the gate and the earlier repair he gave me a detailed idea of what he could do, how long it would take and the costings involved. Soon after that we agreed that he would take the job on.

Neil arrived on the day arranged and was right on time. He started by taking the old gate away and strengthened the gate posts to something that would be much better for the set-up of my garden and the fences on either side. In this, he found an extra task to be done and he readily took care of that for adding to the strength of he finished product. He then built a much stronger new gate for me, used a proper number of gate fittings and made sure that it was very secure.

Neil's workmanship on both the gate and posts was as accurate as could be and this is something I'd not seen with others who'd worked on the gate previously. Having had the gate fail twice since it was installed, the care and attention that Neil put in to everything was great as this was exactly what I was hoping to find. He has produced a solid piece of work that will last.

During all of this Neil was very reliable and thoughtful in the suggestions he made. The construction and finishing of everthing looks great and I now have a gate that fits properly – there's no longer any tugging or shoving and grazed fingers involved when trying to open or close it. I'm delighted with the way everything went and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Neil as someone who will do his utmost to ensure that a good job is always done.

Neil and Alex were really thorough and painstaking and the finished job is superb. Path included re-laying two manhole covers in tricky places, Neil solved the problem really well to leave tidy and attractive look. Incredibly flexible in his approach Neil tried hard to deliver exactly what we wanted and we are really pleased with the outcome. He keeps you up to date with all aspects of the job and was always very open to work with on the commercials. Very polite and friendly and has a wonderful dog who got on very well with ours. Would highly recommend Neil, and we are getting him back to quote for our fence.

To say we are pleased with the fence is an understatement.  Neil did an excellent job even to the fact that our neighbour commented how professional he was, when he was working on two days when we were away from home she was so impressed how he worked so hard and was so professional all of the time.

He is clean and tidy as he works and it always making sure that we were  happy with the job he was doing.

He had a problem with one part of the fence, which we had not even noticed, there was a small gap as one of the panels had been damaged. He pointed it out to us, but did not have time to fix it that day. Neil then came back and ensured it was replaced.

Amazing workmanship and professionalism as I'm sure some workmen would have tried to get away with it.  Not Neil!!

I would recommend Neil to anybody who wants a quality fence.  If you want to know that the job will get done, that you will not have to worry about if you can trust him in your home (we were more than happy to trust him with keys to our home when we were away for two days), that he will turn up when he says he will.  

We are so pleased with the fence as is out neighbour who commented that the fence had made the whole area look so much better and probably put extra value on her house as well.

Neil is a first class professional fencer. He is a good communicator, timekeeper and a very clean and tidy worker. An excellent job by Neil and Alex. I would have no hesitation in recommending them. 

My side gate has consistently being dropping for years and, having had it realigned several times, the problem kept occurring. The meter box is literally inside the gate and, when it drops, it makes entry practically impossible as the box is obstructing the gate.

The time had come to get this issue resolved, once and for all. Having read the reviews for Neil on Safe Local Trades, I got in touch with him and he responded very quickly. From his initial inspection, he was able to identify immediately that the problem was due to the post being crooked, which I hadn't noticed before!

During our discussion, his expertise was obvious and he went through the various options of how the issue could finally be rectified, which I was happy with and I opted for a new gate as the old one was now quite dilapidated.

Neil and Alex arrived promptly on Wednesday and Neil told me exactly what he was going to do and went over everything prior to proceeding. The old post was removed and a new one cemented in. He then made a new bespoke gate to the exact measurements, complete with handle and bolts either end.

The finished result is fantastic. To finally be able to open the gate freely, without the obstruction of the meter box, is awesome. Neil is a true perfectionist and his care and attention to detail is meticulous. That also extends into his customer service, which is faultless - he ensures that the customer is 110% happy with his work, once complete.

Neil and Alex are genuinely lovely trustworthy tradesmen and, when I had to leave my property during the project, I felt completely comfortable with letting my back door open so that they could enter to make a drink.

I would, without hesitation, highly recommend Fence Connection to anyone who is looking to have this type of work done.

The job was especially difficult due to the fact that Neil was working on two different levels, the task made more challenging by numerous shrubs and greenery on our side of the fence!
