When you were a child, what did you aspire to be? To be my own boss and to be in control of my own destiny.
Did you enjoy school? I wasn't keen on school.
What motivated you to learn your trade? I worked for family supplying upvc products to the trade. What motivated you to start your own business? I could see a gap in the market for installing fascias soffits & guttering. Do you wish you had started your business earlier? I feel that I started my business at the right time. What are the rewards of being your ‘own Boss’? The rewards of being my own boss are that I am in control and have no-one to answer to but myself, leaving it down to me to continue being a success. How did you support yourself financially to start your own business? I was working for family and they allowed me to start my business. What advice would you give to anyone thinking about starting their own business? Research what you want to do, be passionate about what you do and never give up. What made you decide to join Safe Local Trades? I decided to join Safe Local Trades as I had heard it being talked about and I thought Peterborough and surrounding areas needs something like this; so I had a meeting and joined! How has Safe Local Trades worked for your Business? My business took off straight away after joining - I was really pleased with the rate of enquiries I was receiving. If you keep getting the feedback cards filled in, the enquiries will come. What are the incentives that keep you with Safe Local Trades? My incentive to stay is the fact that the cost to be a member is very reasonable; also the enquiry rate and fact that SLT feature in many magazines (which I have adverts in under the Safe Local Trades banner), also brings me numerous enquiries. I think Safe Local Trades has built a great brand and I am very proud to be part of it.
