Review for builder in Eye, Peterborough

Review Date:
28th June 2013

Summary:

Driveway replaced, paths replaced, walls and fences rebuilt and replaced, garage door replaced and roof repaired.

Comments:

Mr Sterry-Blunt is very personable and competent, as are the men that work for him. They worked hard and produced a good job with amendments accommodated easily by them. They were competitive on price and did not attempt 'add-ons'. They are honest, straight and 'above board'.

Review of work in Bedford Hall, Thorney

Review Date:
1st March 2012

Summary:

Complete refurbishment of ladies and gents toilets.

Comments:

Bedford Hall is an 1855 heritage building and the toilets had not been upgraded since probably the 1950s / 1960s.

We had a very tight timescale (3 weeks) to get this work done as the hall has regular bookings for events and therefore this was a critical requirement for the project.

Although we had other quotes, Adrian stood out from all the others from the start. His response was by far the best and his quote was prompt and professional.

The work began and was completed around the schedule of the hall events with minimal disruption. Adrian delivered exactly what he said he would and within the tight timeframe - it was all completed a week before we had a wedding taking place!

Trustworthy, extremely reliable, excellent quality and we are delighted with the results.

Review of work in Longthorpe, Peterborough

Review Date:

Summary:

Old Court Builders previously carried out a two-storey extension a few years ago (2 new bedrooms and an ensuite) and having recently purchased a house that was built in the 1930's, where it had never been touched, we have had them back to carry out extensive work on it e.g., new windows, reinforcing the joists as there were numerous cracks in places, and the project is currently work in progress as there is a lot more to do.

Comments:

Adrian and the entire team are absolutely brilliant and absolutely excellent.

You can rely on them to do everything they say they will do e.g., if they say that the will turn up at 8am on a Monday morning, they will be there at 8.

All his team have been with him for a long time and he now has two sons that also work for him - each and every one of them are courteous, helpful, totally trustworthy, respectful and their expertise is unparalleled. Old Court Builders totally deserve 10/10 for everything - I cannot rate them highly enough.

Adrian Sterry-Blunt is a true gentleman builder, which I feel is very rare these days.

"If, having building work done can ever be a pleasant experience, using Old Court Builders is as pleasant as it could ever get."

Summary:

Old Court Builders designed and built an extension to our bungalow, comprising a large open living area and a mezzanine sleeping area.

Comments:

Old Court Builders are a delight to have working on a project like this. All their employees are friendly and considerate and work to a high standard. I found it was possible to make decisions about exactly what I wanted as the work progressed and they were endlessly patient in making sure the effect was exactly as I wanted it to be. Adrian, who owns and runs the company, is excellent at coming up with ideas at the planning stage, at advising at all stages and at making sure the work is completed to the very highest standards.

Summary:

Downstairs cloakroom converted into disabled wet-room and study converted into bedroom.

Comments:

From start to finish, Old Court Builders were absolutely brilliant.

As my wife is bed-ridden, we had to have a major renovation of our downstairs area and Adrian and his team did a superb job. All the workers were hardworking and conscientious, arriving at 7:15 in the morning and they would work through with only half an hour for lunch. When I made them a cup of tea, they didnt sit around talking or reading the newspaper, they continued to carry on with the job.

They were very tidy and even the car was moved from the drive if they were doing something that caused a lot of dust. They were always smartly dressed, arriving in clean signed vans, giving an overall impression of a polished and professional company. They kept us fully informed on a daily basis as to what was happening the next day and were also extremely considerate to my wife and would ensure that she encountered the minimal amount of noise and disruption.

The work was scheduled to last for twelve weeks and when we discovered that the floor-boards under the old cloakroom were rotten and damp, Adrian supplied a humidifier (at no extra cost) so that it could be dried out as quickly as possible, so that the waterproof flooring could be laid and for the schedule not to overrun - the work was finished by the twelfth week as planned, with all rubbish taken away via three lorry loads.

I previously worked as a tradesman and my neighbour is a professional bricklayer. During the course of the work, my neighbour came in to have a look and he was extremely complimentary about the quality of workmanship - I too agreed with all his comments.

We are absolutely thrilled with our new wet-room (with underfloor heating) and everything has been nicely finished off.

I cannot fault anything with Old Court Builders - it was a pleasure to have this company in our home and I would recommend them without hesitation. They are a credit to what Safe Local Trades stands for and if anyone wanted to see the quality of their work, then I would be happy to show them.

Review of work in Orton Waterville, Peterborough

Review Date:

Summary:

We have used Old Court Builders twice - first was for an extension on our old house and for our new property, they recently installed a new staircase, new doors and frames and reinstated some internal walls.

Comments:

Adrian instilled confidence in me the first time I met him when he came to quote for the extension on our old house. All his tradesmen are ace - they are also punctual and cleared up the area at the end of every day. I was always kept informed of what was going on and the quality of all the workmanship was excellent.

I would definitely recommend this company.
